Yesterday after swimming at the Y we went to Toy’R'Us and bought a toy metal detector. It actually works quite well and we found a few uninteresting things: A drill bit, a golf ball, a lace flower and glass pebble and a raven feather and plenty of bottle caps and gum wrappers. Obviously most of those things were just easy to see while we were looking for metal. Nothing treasure-like yet.

Detecting metal with the new toy.

Today we found a small key and 2$… but again that was in plain view! Maybe we just need to pay more attention to where we walk.

We attended a storytelling evening at The Empress in NDG. The theatre is presently closed so the event was held in the office at the corner of Old Orchard. This was the last event of the season and we attended specifically to see and hear John David Hickey. (Mom’s friend from Quebec City whom she had not seen in about 13 years.) Marie-Tangerine most enjoyed Sarah’s story about Hiroshima’s Sadako Sasaki and her paper cranes and how it tied into the story of her mom’s sickness. A very sad but moving story, I loved it too.
